Senior Applied Scientist (Algorithmic Pricing)  - Pricing, Traffic & Trading Tech (All Genders)

Role As a Senior Applied Scientist in the Pricing Platform department, you will develop machine learning models and algorithms that form the backbone of Zalando’s algorithmic pricing solution, leveraging deep learning and gradient‑boosted trees to solve large‑scale forecasting problems. Responsibilities - Develop industry‑leading, article‑level demand forecasting models for the pricing platform. - Apply deep learning (e.g., NLP, sequence modelling) to high‑dimensional forecasting challenges. - Drive ML operations, data analysis, and model deployment using Databricks. - Create and test scientific hypotheses and conduct experiments. - Collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product Managers to monitor and improve the pricing solution. Qualifications - Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. - Strong mathematical and analytical background. - Deep expertise in machine learning, especially deep learning and gradient‑boosted trees, with hands‑on experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow or LightGBM. - Proven experience in forecasting methodologies and high‑dimensional model development. - Excellent Python programming skills. - Commitment to reproducible research using tools such as MLflow and Weights & Biases.
